About
With several years of experience as a psychotherapist, I have provided counseling for various organizations, honing my skills and expertise along the way.
My career began in a clinical psychology setting within a hospital, where I had the privilege of working with children in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). In this role, I developed a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by young clients, including anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral challenges and eating disorders. I utilized evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), tailoring these approaches to meet the specific needs of each child. This involved not only assessing their mental health needs but also collaborating closely with families to create comprehensive treatment plans. I focused on building a safe and supportive environment, enabling children to express themselves and engage in the therapeutic process effectively.
I completed my counseling qualification in Edinburgh, specializing in psychodynamic and person-centered therapies. Following my training, I had the opportunity to work with several local charities and NHS services, including Hope Park and The Health Agency, where I focused on supporting adults dealing with trauma, eating disorders, anxiety, and depression.
In these roles, I provided individual therapy, employing a variety of evidence-based approaches tailored to each client's unique needs. My goal was to foster a safe and empathetic environment that encouraged clients to explore their feelings and experiences. This supportive space allowed them to challenge thinking patterns and develop healthier coping mechanisms, ultimately helping them regain a sense of control and improve their overall well-being.
Following my training, I worked with First Psychology as an integrative therapist, specializing in trauma and eating disorders. My work centered around issues related to relationships, abuse, sexual abuse, and trauma, as well as the associated challenges of anxiety and depression. I created a safe and supportive environment where clients could process their experiences at their own pace. By employing trauma-informed care, I helped clients develop effective coping strategies and resilience, empowering them to reclaim their sense of self and navigate their healing journey.
Drawing on my extensive experience, I established my private practice, where I specialize in managing anxiety, relationship issues, and eating disorders. I work with clients facing a range of challenges, including relationship breakdowns, depression, and family dynamics. My approach is rooted in building a strong sense of trust and safety, allowing clients to feel comfortable exploring their feelings and experiences.
Integrative Therapy
My core training in Psychodynamic and Person-Centered therapies forms the foundation of my practice. However, I draw on a range of approaches, including Gestalt, Internal Family Systems, and Somatic Therapies, to customize my counseling and psychotherapy to your unique needs. With a strong emphasis on coping and management, I utilise coaching techniques as well, to support you effectively on your journey toward healing and personal growth.
