About me

I'm Tamina Nothhelfer, a BACP-accredited psychotherapist based in London. I work with individuals, couples and families, with particular expertise in eating disorders, anxiety and trauma. Sessions are available in English and German.

My work has taken me through different settings including the NHS, public and private sector, before moving into private practice. Practising in diverse settings has allowed me to work with a wide client base and therefore I see individuals, couples, children and young people, as well as families.

I have a half-German, half-Thai background and take great interest in how our culture and background impacts our relationships with others and the world. Currently I'm based in London but have lived across different countries and continents. Travel and immersing myself in other cultures is one of my core interests and I welcome any discussions of difference and diversity.

Experience and background

With extensive experience as a psychotherapist, I have developed my skills through counselling in diverse environments. My work with adults, including couples, spans the charity sector, NHS services, EAP (Employee Assistance Programs) and private work. Over time I have worked with a wide variety of presentations, including anxiety, stress and burnout, trauma - including complex trauma, relationship issues and eating disorders.

I have worked with young people and families in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), school settings and in private work. My work has focused on assisting young individuals dealing with anxiety and trauma by implementing evidence-based therapies like CBT and DBT, as well as creative therapies. This has included working collaboratively with families to design personalised treatment plans in a nurturing setting.

In my private practice, I concentrate on working with anxiety, relationship challenges, and trauma. You can also consult me for specialist psychotherapy services in the realm of eating disorders.

My Approach

I work following an integrative modality, which essentially means I integrate multiple types of therapeutic styles. For those who are interested or have had therapy before, the core modalities I draw on in my practice include Psychodynamic, Person-Centred, Internal Family Systems, and Somatic Therapies. I also have additional training in CBT and DBT, as well as trauma therapies.

With a strong emphasis on coping and management, I integrate coaching techniques to support you effectively on your journey toward healing and personal growth.
